Your *CURRENT* CD only contains the x64 version of w2k3-r2, so you cannot choose the x86 version! BUT: You can buy the x86 version of the w2k3-r2 edition which will install the x86 version (and then you cannot choose to install the x64 edition!) Greetings Jochen.

The reason is that if you install x86 first your only option for installing the x64 system will be to boot with the x64 dvd. x64 Setup cannot run from the x86 desktop. However, x86 Setup can run .... XP Home and XP MCE can only use one physical cpu (socket) but that cpu can have multiple cores (logical processors).
